Bant â'r cart! And they're off!

Here's the official list of candidates for the county council elections in Carmarthenshire. Analysis to follow.

Every seat is being contested, and there are some interesting fights in prospect.

Here are the statistics:

74 seats are being fought, and 16 of the 58 wards are represented by two councillors.

Plaid Cymru are fielding 65 candidates.

Labour has 44 candidates.

People First are putting up 10 candidates.

The Conservatives have 17 candidates.

The LibDems are fielding 4 candidates.

There are 67 candidates standing as Independents or under no ticket.

The Independents are a very mixed bag, and there is no way of telling from the list which of them would take the Independent whip and support Meryl Gravell.
